Kuta

We arrived in Bali after a long day of travel which involved two flights (Cairns-Darwin, Darwin-Denpasar) and a lot of waiting around. Our first two days in Indonesia were spent acclimatising in Kuta - there were plenty of things to get used to, both good and bad!

The Bad
- Constantly being asked 'Sir, you want taxi?' or 'Miss, you want manicure?'
- Stifling heat and humidity that has you sweating after a few paces.
- The obligatory bartering over absolutely anything and everything.

The Good
- Great breakfasts with banana pancakes and fresh fruit juices.
- Ice cold Bintang beers for under a quid!
- Bargain Balinese massages.

After getting used to all of these things and realising that Kuta had little to offer us, except for good food and drink, we decided to head north to Ubud in search of the real Bali...
