We arrived in the surf town of Raglan on New Year's Eve and pitched our tent at the Solscape Eco Reserve, which overlooked the surf from the cliff top. We enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere as our evening consisted of a beautiful curry, plenty of beers, and a few games of cards with some of our fellow travelers.
The first day of 2009 started in great fashion, as we spent the day catching some waves at Ngarunui Beach. The conditions were a bit messy and our rental 'boats' (surfboards) didn't quite do the job, but it was really nice to be back in the water and we had a great time. Unfortunately we were so relaxed that we forgot to take any pictures! More to follow soon, we promise!

happy New Year 2009 - sounds like you've started as you mean to go on!! looking forward to new pics of New Zealand. We are intrigued by the country as we've heard so much about it. Enjoy! lots of love Mum and Dad xxxx
